Sales Consulting Engineer – Multiple Locations

The Sales Consulting Engineer is responsible for providing technical consulting and pre-sales supports to national account managers and channel managers. Also responsible for providing technical supports to Product Management team for developing new products with new IT technologies and applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with network engineering, product marketing, and other teams to design operationally efficient and supportable customer data networks.
  • Advise others about all Virtela services/products and give in-depth advice giving technical guidance to others on prices, options, feature enhancements and availability.
  • Based on detailed knowledge of the Virtela network, recommend specialized services and applications to customer’s technical staffs and management.
  • Analyze customer’s needs; develop long-term strategy, based on knowledge of customer’s current network, equipment and business, of how Virtela services can competitively meet customer’s communication needs.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding preparation of, review, and presentation of technical proposal for customer on how customer’s network and Virtela services can be integrated including implementation process and any modifications that are required to ensure complete plan is feasible within cost, time, and environment constraints.
  • Demonstrate full technical knowledge of customer’s business and related communication needs by advising Virtela team and customer technical staff as appropriate on enhancements, modifications and/or options in voice and data communication integration.
  • Support Virtela sales staff and account managers as needed to properly manage the sales process.

Required Skills:

  • Four to seven years experience as a Sales Engineer
  • Thorough understanding of IP networking and related protocols

Qualifications:

  • Four to seven years experience as a Sales Engineer
  • Proven history of designing and implementing large enterprise networking solutions
  • Proven history of managing a large enterprise network and enterprise IT applications
  • Knowledge of the data networking / IP VPN technology and applications
  • Understanding of general telecommunication concepts – TDM, ISDN, Frame Relay/ATM, IP, etc.
  • Understanding of enterprise IT applications – firewall, virus scanning, user authentications, e-mail, remote access, database management, disaster recovering, hosting, VOIP, etc.
  • Willingness to travel as needed (50%)
  • Experience selling services to IBM or other large systems integrator

Experience and Education:

  • 7+ years experience in the telecommunications / data networking industry.
  • 4+ years experience in enterprise IT field
    2+ years experience in IP VPN (Preferred)
  • BS/BA (technical discipline preferred)
    CCIA (Preferred)

Lead Pricing Manager – Denver

Virtela Technology Services is looking for an analytical, results-oriented leader in our Pricing and Analytics team. This person will be responsible for three critical functions: 1) Pricing strategy and execution – ensuring we are competitive, profitable, and provide exceptional customer service; 2) Pricing analytics – serving as the “brain trust” for pricing and pre-sales activities, including capital analysis, deal metrics, along with the ability to think outside the box to solve complex pricing questions; and 3) business intelligence – developing and maintaining data reporting and analytics infrastructure that enables organization to make faster, better business decisions.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Set pricing strategy and ensure execution. Establish goals and report on performance in periodic business reviews
  • Identify and analyze new business opportunities. Present recommendations to senior management
  • Develop and maintain key business metrics and business intelligence tools. Enable data-driven decision making across the organization
  • Respond to competitor activity and other urgent issues; help make important decisions in real time
  • Work with technology teams to develop systems to support business needs
  • Mitigate financial risk

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Math, Economics, Engineering or another quantitative field; MBA required
  • 8+ years of senior level pricing experience in telecommunications, systems integration, and/or business management/consulting roles that have included quantitative analysis
  • Background in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of networks, security, and cloud services
  • Solid financial skills along with the ability to process large amounts of information
  • Comfortable working in situations with imperfect information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to solve complex problems quantitatively and develop clear, data-driven business recommendations
  • Ability to work successfully with both business and technical teams across the organization
